It is a bunch of audio recording, it is jut conversations. One person is saying something in French and then you repeat what you have just heard an someone else responds to you, and then you just repaeat what they are saying, what the other people are saying. They teach you new vocabulary as you go along, using the spaced repetition : you learn a vocabulary word end then you practice it a bunch of times and as you progress through the recording they spaced them a little bit more, you are repeating the same thing over and over and over, the whole time. They give you a little space to kind to help you, to make sure you keep on your feet. This is not always exactly the same that you are practicing every time. It is a great resource to practicing your language.

The main teaching method of this app means it is PERFECT for learning Spanish while I am driving, or while I am doing housework, or while I am brushing my teeth in the morning or evening. AND you are not just a passive listener. The program is structured so you are expected to repeat phrases or answer questions, and you are given the time to do so. AND you are NOT left hanging. The program’s teacher gives you the correct answer or phrase and THEN encourages you to repeat it and gives you the time to do so. AND at no time do you have to look at a screen, so you can e.g. keep your eyes on the road while driving ! Now, to be clear, the program does provide you with reading exercises which you should do while sitting and watching your screen, BUT this is NOT the main teaching method. This app is not cheap, BUT it is worth every penny. I did not buy a subscription because I am a busy person and I need to learn at my own speed. Instead I purchased the program outright. The maker of the program is a well known publisher, and I hope they will continue to maintain this program at this excellent level and even add improvements to it! I also hope that their service is up to the standard of excellence of this app. I am very pleased with this app. I ask only that the makers continue to make and service this excellent product.

I learned French in high school but never read, wrote, or spoke it. I began using Duolingo (Duolingo is also focused on writing) in August of 2018 to see if I could remember any French and begin anew. While it helped me learn grammar and vocabulary, my pronunciation and thus my confidence for speaking wasn’t improving. I just completed the 30 lessons in level 1 and I am feeling more confident to try to speak more. I also had to re-learn proper pronunciation and this app helped me enormously with that. It also helped my listening skills so that I’m understanding more. Don’t wait. Do this app early in your learning so you don’t have to undo mistakes you’ve learned. Bonne chance!

Students, learners : French learning games app for translation

In terms of language learning, this app is great. It’s important to know what it is going to teach you though, that’s listening and speaking, not reading and definitely not writing. In addition, the language they teach you will be very formal, which is probably appropriate as depending on where you go using a too informal form of speech could severely soil the exchange you are having. In terms of app features, I really only have one request. Include a calendar, showing when you studied and what you studied. This isn’t critical to learning the language but I think it’d be a wonderful addition. Wonderful app, always my go to when starting a new language and always will be.
