Easy French Step-by-Step

Among the textbooks it is a famous one.You will be introduced to the grammar rules and concepts in order of importance, so you can build on as you progess through the book, building your foundation. It contains more than 300 verbs (conjugation), chosen by their frequency of use. A lot of exercises to build your speaking, to get more skills for conversations, and comprehension. It is very useful. It tells you what the different words and phrases mean. It is easy to follow and to improve your writing skills.
Here is the content of the book, with explanations :
-I First element of French, 1 : Nouns, articles, and descriptive adjectives, 2 : The verbs être and avoir, subject pronouns, and negation, 3 : Days and months, regular –er verbs in the present tense, and interrogatives, 4 : Numbers, dates, and time and regular –ir verbs in the present tense, 5 :  Regular –re verbs in the present tense and –er verbs with spelling changes, 6 : Expressing the future with aller, prepositions, and the verbfaire, 7 : Irregular verbs and verb constructions, 8 : Irregular verbs, 9 : Prendre and boire, the partitive article, 10 : Possessives, demonstratives, comparatives and adverbs.
-II Affirmative and negative expressions, forming the imperative, and using pronominal verbs, 11 : Affirmatives versus negatives, stressed, and the imperative, 12 : Reflexive pronouns with pronominal verbs and the present participle.
-III The past and future tenses, the conditionnal, and the subjunctive mood, 13 : Forms and uses of the passé composé, 14 : The imparfait, past narration,… 15 : The future tense, the conditional, and indefinite adjectives, 16 : The subjunctive.

Merde, It’s Not Easy to Learn French: A Story in Easy French with Exercises and English Translation

This book is in simple french. It is about the joys and the frustrations of an adult learning french. It is the story about someone in Paris learning to speak french, and she gets frustrated with her inability to speak and understand it quickly. It includes humour, exercises and illustrations that increase the understanding. This book contains adult language. The book has two sections, allowing more levels of french people to enjoy it.The section 1 has the story written completely in french, and includes grammar exercises. The section 2 contains a list of the more difficult vocabulary with the translation into english, and the complete text in english so people can check their comprehension. The content is 1-Journal intime, 2-Words and english translation, 3-Additional exercises, 4-Preview : excerpt from volume 2. It is really fun and easy. You will have a basic french lexicon to wander Paris, alone or with friends (instead of an organized tour). People with an intermediate level are able to read and build their confidence with just enough challenge. The way of learning is very efficient, the author presents digestible bite-size pieces of grammar, and words in her stories. The book is composed by a short story in sections, written as a diary. The story is in french in the first section, and then in english in the second one. There is a short quizz to increase learning. You will be able to communicate (conversations) everyday ideas in present, past and future.

There is a course in each story (verbs (conjugation), adjectives, past tense, directions,…). It is good for people who wants to learn the language, the businessman, the tourists. It contains the basics of grammar, modern lexicon, verb chart, french-english dictionary, reading exercises, economic information, common idioms, review quizzes, complete answer key. The book is well organized. The exercises can be done over and over again if you don’t complete them in the book and use paper instead. Almost every french word is spelled out phonetically so you know how it should be pronounced, unfortunately there is no audio support to listen to native french speakers. The new french words are reinforced in the future courses. There are thirty six pages of dictionary definitions at the back of the book.
