A great course to learn French

Hi, Welcome all on Fast French Learning, the blog to Learn and Improve your French 🇫🇷 😀

-Bonjour Messieurs, Dames, comment allez-vous ?

-Bien ? Comme ci, comme ça ?
-Moi, ça va pas mal.
-Comment ? (what ?). Pas mal.

Ça va pas mal is pretty good.
Aujourd’hui, ça va pas mal. Et vous ? → Today, I am fine, and yourself ?
Très bien (good). Bien, comme-ci, comme-ça ?
Comment allez vous ? (formal) / Ça va ? (informal) → How are you ?

Repeat these questions : Ça va ? / Comment ça va ? / Comment vas-tu ? Theses are informal.
The answer is : Bien , et toi ?

With people you do not really know, you say Comment allez-vous ?
The answer is Bien, et vous ?

It takes time to meet people.
Excusez-moi – Bonjour Madame – Au revoir Monsieur -...
For the people you just meet when you are travelling. It is fine for the first day.

-Monsieur  -Bonjour Madame, comment allez-vous aujourd’hui ?
-Pas mal, et vous ?
-Très bien, merci.

It is not exactly the same every time. In this page you are going to learn to talk about persons and some things, and to find more on them.

We are going to work with adjectives and French sayings to help you to describe some things. And you are going to see the irregular verb avoir (to have). You are going to learn as well how to ask questions. It could be helpful.

Commençons !  (Let us get started !)
Vous êtes d’accord ? (You agree ?)

You know the verb être (to be). What would you answer to this question ? Oui, je suis d’accord (Yes, I am ok).

But if you are not ok to start right now , you would say : je ne suis pas d’accord (I am not ok).

Je penses que vous êtes d’accord, alors commençons ! Visitons l’Afrique !I think you agree, so let us get started ! Let us visit Africa !

A Bida Bidou, un endroit d’activités artistique en Afrique. Voici Sangara, il est africain, ce beau jeune homme est très vivant et calme. Il parle français et le dialecte de son village. C’est un musicien, il est très bon musicien. Il travaille à Bida Bidou, un endroit d’activités artistique en Afrique.
In Bida Bidou, a place of artistic activity in Africa. Here is Sangara, he is African, this handsome young man is very lively and calm. He speaks French and the dialect of his village. He is a musician, he is a very good musician. He works in Bida Bidou, a place of artistic activity in Africa.

So, now, I have a question for you : can you identify all the adjectives which are in the previous text ?.

Voici Sangara, il est africain, ce beau jeune homme est vivant et calme. Il parle français et le dialecte de son village. C’est un musicien, il est très bon musicien. Il travaille à Bida Bidou, un endroit d’activités artistique en Afrique.

Bida Bidou est un grand endroit très beau où des musiciens et des professionnels du monde artistique parlent des activités artistiques. A Bida Bidou on rencontre la culture africaine à travers les arts de la tradition et ceux de l’époque actuelle.
Bida Bidou is a large and beautiful place where musicians and professionals from the artistic world talk about artistic activities. In Bida Bidou we meet African culture through the arts of tradition and those of the present day.

So, now, I have a question for you : what can you say about the adjectives ? Make a comparison.
Mamadou est africain. On rencontre la culture africaine à travers les arts de la tradtion et ceux de l’époque actuelle.

One adjective is describing the nationality. Adjectives agree in gender and number with the noun or nouns they modify. You need to bear in mind that all nouns have a gender.

La culture africaine. Un lit Indien. Une poupée péruvienne.
African culture. An Indian bed. A Peruvian doll.

What can we say to describe two people ?
Il est africain, elle est asiatique. Ils sont africains. Lui est un homme vivant et elle est une femme vivante. Ils sont vivants.
He is African, she is Asian. They are African. He is a living man and she is a living woman. They are lively.

We do not pronounce the letter s.
Ils sont vivants. Ils sont gentils (They are nice).

Il est un homme vivant et elle est une femme vivante.
You notice that the adjectives follow the noun.

In English, in general the adjectives are placed before the noun they modify. But in French : Elle est une femme viviante. L’Arique est un pays merveilleux.
She is a living woman. Africa is a wonderful country.

So now, let us see the form of the adjectives. The simplest adjectif ends with a silent letter « e » and stay the same in the masculine form and in the feminine form.

Here are a few examples :
C’est une fille adorable – C’est un garçon adorable.
He is a lovely girl – He is a lovely boy.
We put the letter « s » with the plural form : Ce sont des enfants adorables.

Now, that is your turn to try : C’est un homme bizarre. C’est une femme bizarre.
He is a weird man. She is a weird woman.
Ce sont des hommes bizarres. Ce sont des femmes bizarres.
They are weird men. They are weird women.

Let sus go for the next group of adjectives ? They are not very complicated. You can form the most feminine adjectives by putting the letter « e » at the end of the world to the masculine form.
Fatigué / fatiguée (tired) Joli / Jolie (pretty) Vrai / vraie (true)

The next one : Africain and Africaine.
If the adjective ends with a consonant, the letter « e » does change the pronunciation. With the letter « e » at the end  of the word we pronounce and we hear the last consonnant, it changes the pronunciation.
Il est intelligent. Elle est intelligente. Il est grand. Elle est grande.  Il est amusant. Elle est amusante.
He is intelligent. She is intelligent. He is tall. She is tall. He is funny. She is funny.

Un homme patient. Une femme patiente. Un pays intéressant. Une culture intéressante. Un garçon intelligent. Une fille intelligente. Un musicien content. Une musicienne contente.
A patient man. A patient woman. An interesting country. An interesting culture. A smart boy. A smart girl. A happy musician. A happy musician.
