Le passé composé → the past tense

Presente tense : Je mange au restaurant → I am eating at the resraurant
Past tense : J’ai mangé au restaurant → I ate at the restaurant

Tu regardes la télévision → You are watching the television
Tu as regardé la télévision → You watched the television

Il va au travail → He is going to work  
Il est allé au travail → He went to work

La structure de la phrase → the structure of the sentence

Sujet (subject) + Verbe (verb) + Complément (complement)

Je suis français → I am French Je (subject) + suis (verb) + français (complement)

Tu habites en France → You live in France Tu (subject) + habites (verb) + en France (complement)

Les phrases simples → the simple phrases

Phrase interrogative → interrogative sentence
Phrase affirmative → affirmative sentence
Phrase négative → negative sentence
Phrase exclamative → exclamation
Phrase imperative → imperative sentence

Phrase interrogative

Aimez-vous le fromage ? → Do you like cheese ?

Phrase affirmative

Oui, j’aime le fromage → Yes, I like cheese.

Phrase négative

Phrase impérative

Mangeons ce fromage → Let’s eat this cheese

Phrase exclamative

Le sujet → the subject

The subject can be

Un nom → a noun
Ex : Thomas enseigne le français → Thomas teaches French
Le professeur enseigne le français → The professor teaches French

Un pronom personnel → a subject pronoun
Je, tu, il/elle, nous, vous, ils/elles
Ex : Il visite Paris → He is visiting Paris

Un pronom interrogatif → interrogative pronoun
Ex : Qui parle ? → Who is speaking ?

Un pronom indéfini → indefinite pronoun
Ex : Quelqu’un parle → Someone is speaking
